Another Day, Another Experience

Today at The Art Experience was all about Organizing.  Now, I'm by no means the most organized person, however, I do understand its importance, especially when many people have to share the same space.

As I arrived, I was greeted with smiles by the artists quietly working.  Everyone has been very welcoming at The Art Experience which I think is one of the most important factors in an art therapy environment.  I was asked to organize the filing cabinets and put the sources and pictures in alphabetical order.  Being an artist who relies on visual sources as inspiration myself, I could definitely understand why this task needed to be done.  I spent a long time going through the folders, mostly organizing the animal and nature drawer and creating new folders or adding and sorting to the others. I am a huge nature fan so this wasn't much of a chore for me, in fact, I found some very beautiful and inspirational images that I would use in paintings of my own.

After returning the files to the cabinet, I started to organize the magazines to make them more accessible, neater, and easier to find for the artists in the studio.  Judy also asked me to think about what I'd like to help with for the silent auction, December 4th. I've never been to a silent auction before and I'm excited to experience it.  I think I may want to assist in one of the auctions, preferably the Treasure Box since I helped make some and have also seen some really awesome ones created by fellow artists.  I'm excited to see the turnout and be a part of fundraising for the program.
